Neer is an open-source, multi-tenant mess manager: the system a shared-living household uses to track who ate what, who bought what, who cleaned what, who owes what, and who has paid.

It replaces the physical mess khata, the wall chart, the shared spreadsheet and the month-end argument with arithmetic everyone in the flat can inspect.

Some decisions worth knowing about

A closed month is closed for everybody

There is no administrator override. To change a figure in a closed month you reopen it with a recorded reason, fix it, and close it again -- which writes a new revision rather than overwriting the old one. The old revision stays readable.

No balance is stored anywhere

A balance is the sum of a member's ledger entries, computed when you look at it. That is why nothing in the product can quietly disagree with the entries behind it.

Nobody sees another mess

Each mess is a separate tenant. A manager sees their own mess and nothing else, and the roles that operate the platform are separate from the roles inside a mess.

Neer records money; it does not move money

Payments are entries a manager records or a member claims, against a transfer that happened somewhere else. Neer holds no funds, processes no cards and connects to no payment gateway. See the terms of service.

Who it is for

Student and working-bachelor messes, hostel floors, shared flats -- any group of people who buy food together and settle up monthly. It is built mobile-first and installs to a phone's home screen, because that is the only device most members will ever open it on.
